Get ready for fun and games in Vegas, N.C.
The Shallotte Rotary Club’s eighth annual Las Vegas Night is pulling out all stops Saturday night, Jan. 26, with an array of food and Vegas-style games.
The annual fundraiser is from 6-10:30 p.m. at the Brunswick County Realtors Building at 101 Stone Chimney Road in Supply.
“It’s the most fun event of the year,” said Doug Terhune, past Shallotte Rotary president, founder and official organizer of the festive night of gambling in Brunswick County.
This year’s event follows a similar format as in years past, only bigger and better, Terhune said.
The catered event will feature a cash bar and buffet with pasta, assorted hot and cold hors d’oeuvres and “amazing gambling cakes,” Terhune promises.
Patrons are free to migrate throughout the night between the food and gambling tables, consisting this year of the usual games of blackjack, craps and roulette.
There will be video versions of horse races and roulette, as well as a Texas Hold’em room.
More than 400 door prizes will be given away. There’s also a silent auction and opportunity for patrons to win raffle items as well as prizes awarded through the amount of chips accrued during the event, including a grand prize, says Terhune’s brother, Court, one of the dealers for the night.
Raffle highlights include an opportunity to win a free week for two, plus a $1,000 travel voucher, in the real Las Vegas.
The night’s grand prize is a 50-inch Sony Smart TV with sound system. Three semi-grand prizes will also be awarded.
All prizes are non-cash ones and are being donated by local businesses. Only Monopoly-type money is used for the games.
Tickets are selling for a requested $65 donation each.
